Yesterday, I introduced the topic of fantasy sleepers – players with real upside that are cheap. These are players you may be able to get in later rounds (11-16). I ended with James White, Patriots’ running back, at 103.
An additional note on White. He’s getting a lot of work and rave reviews in New England training camp, and his ESPN ranking is 123. Will he be the Patriots lead running back? Probably not, but he could be a real value.
Are there any running backs that could be RB1 on their teams that have an ADP of more than 100? Not very many, but here’s one – Aaron Jones of the Green Bay Packers. His current ADP is 101, and his ESPN ranking is 164.
Ranked right below Aaron Jones is Peyton Barber, a veteran running back with Tampa Bay. Barber is No. 1 on some depth charts ahead of rookie Ronald Jones II. His current ADP ranking is 96, but his ESPN ranking is 165.
You want to draft more of your running backs early. Always focus on getting guys that are RB1 on the depth chart unless you can take a cheap flyer. That wraps up running backs, and we’ll look at wide receivers tomorrow.
