Drafting a winning team, part 11

Yesterday, I was telling you about the importance of the middle rounds, and this is truly where fantasy football general managers can distinguish themselves. We’ve already talked about rounds one, two and three. What about four?

There’s a chance that Jordan Howard, the RB1 for Chicago, is available in the fourth round. If that’s the case, I’m interested. Matt Nagy has joined the Bears, and Tarik Cohen is going to get some work. But Howard is worth a fourth-round pick.

What about round five? If you think the supply of good players is running out, consider that Alex Collins, Rashaad Penny, Jay Ajayi and Royce Freeman may all still be available in this round. All four of these backs will probably be RB1 guys.

Saints running back Mark Ingram may slip to the sixth round because he has been suspended for the first four games of the 2018 season. It would be hard for me to pass up Mark Ingram if he’s available in the sixth round. He’s too good.

If you think I only have eyes for running backs, consider that I love Marquise Goodwin, Jimmy Garoppolo’s favorite receiver in San Francisco. He’s expected to go in the sixth. And Corey Davis, who will be Tennessee’s No. 1 WR, is also out there.
